BLURRY MOON: ANTHONY VACCARELLO’S SAINT LAURENT FILM STARRING CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG
With Blurry Moon, Anthony Vaccarello, Creative Director of Saint Laurent, makes his directorial debut in collaboration with Because Music. The film, starring Charlotte Gainsbourg, dissolves the boundaries between fashion, cinema, and sound, unfolding as a hypnotic journey that feels both intimate and surreal.
Shot on Los Angeles’ legendary Mulholland Drive, the setting becomes more than a backdrop — it transforms into a stage for memory and absence. Behind the wheel of a convertible, Gainsbourg lets her thoughts drift as the car begins to move as if guided by an invisible force. What could have been a simple drive turns into a metaphor for longing, time, and the unseen currents that shape us.
The atmosphere recalls the cinematic tension of David Lynch and the dreamlike soundscapes of Angelo Badalamenti, with Sebastian’s score adding to the haunting rhythm of the film. Here, Vaccarello reveals himself not only as a designer, but as a storyteller; one who knows how to fuse emotion, vision, and narrative into a singular universe.
Blurry Moon becomes more than a film. It captures raw emotion, where Saint Laurent’s timeless elegance merges with the luminous melancholy of the Hollywood Hills. It is a tribute to cinema as dream, to music as pure feeling, and to fashion as a vessel of memory.
