Science and fashion, not an obvious combination, but Max Mara creative director Ian Griffiths proved otherwise. For this spring/summer collection he turned to female pioneer Hypatia for inspiration. A mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher who lived in fourth-century Alexandria, her geometric and trigonometric discoveries have now found their way into this season’s sharply angled tailored collection.
With an intellectual starting point, it became a journey between past and future, where precision and elegance danced with simplicity and craftsmanship. There was camel, there was cashmere and perfect Italian suiting that created a considered wardrobe of forever classics.
