TATE MODERN MARKS 25TH ANNIVERSARY WITH MONUMENTAL WORKS BY ROTHKO AND BOURGEOIS
To celebrate its 25th anniversary in May 2025, Tate Modern will showcase major works by Mark Rothko and Louise Bourgeois in a special public exhibition. Held from May 9–12, the event will feature 25 key artworks installed throughout the museum, offering free access to visitors.
Among the highlights is Bourgeois’s Maman (1999), the iconic 10-meter-tall spider sculpture, returning to Tate Modern for the first time since its debut in the Turbine Hall in 2000. Maman will serve as the starting point for a curated trail of 25 significant works from Tate Modern’s collection, guiding visitors through the museum’s history and recent acquisitions.
Tate Modern has grown into a cultural powerhouse over the past 25 years—a place that rewrites art history and has transformed the way we experience art. Whether you’re drawn to the iconic works of Rothko and Bourgeois or eager to be surprised by contemporary experiments, the anniversary promises to be an event that perfectly encapsulates Tate Modern’s essence: groundbreaking, inspiring, and accessible to all.
On view 9-12 May at Tate Modern London.
